Fowler Rd: Treacherous for people on foot and on bikes

Fowler Rd. may connect people in motor vehicles with other parts of town, but its current state disconnects kids from the school campus and from friends' homes and it disconnects adults on foot and on bike from the town center amenities. Joggers fear for life and limb when traversing a turn with low visibility.

"Treacherous, " "a speedway," and "super unsafe" are descriptions of Fowler Road by residents of the area who talked with Bike•Walk•Roll•Cape about the vision of kids walking/biking safely to/from school.

• No sidewalks.

• Wide vehicle lanes.

• A long straightaway that invites speed.

• Frequent large trucks, including some 18 wheelers.

Upgrades to sewer are scheduled within the next 5 years, which would be a good time to install tree-protected sidewalks, according the Town Manager Matt Sturgis.
